Sodom
Genesis XIX
Steamhammer: 2020
Ugh! A new Sodom album is out now, but sadly enough without my personal close friend, Uncle ‘Bernie’, on the guitar. So what can I say about this new album? The band from the German Ruhrpott goes way back to their early roots with the return of ‘Frank Blackfire’ on the guitar. Do I like this new record? Yes I really do, this because its raw and evil and I really like the riffage, blast beats and Tom’s rough voice as usual. Just crushing, fast and catchy songs in the spirit of their earliest albums. So all in all, I think fans of early Death Metal or very early Slayer will love this new album for absolutely sure. For me it’s a cool album as well. I just think the albums with my really good friend “Bernemann”, on the guitar are still way too much underrated by most fans. For me personal, I think this great guy never got the credits he actually deserved in this band and that’s something that’s really not fair. For all fans, just take a careful listen to classic albums like : M-16, Decision Day, In War and Pieces or all those other classics he wrote for the band in his long-time career for Sodom, all those records are pure metal manifests. Still I think too much people forget this and that’s all I wanted to say as a personal friend of Bernemann himself.
-Nevertheless, Sodom never disappoints and never made a shitty album!-
